The Data-driven Urban Climate Adaptation (Data2Resilience) project implemented data-driven actions and services to enhance Dortmund’s resilience to extreme heat. Data2Resilience deployed a state-of- the-art biometeorological sensor network and developed a nowcasting service for monitoring thermal comfort throughout the city. This real-time information can guide on-ground actions and services for smarter urban climate and thermal-comfort planning, pioneering the integration of thermal comfort data within Dortmund’s smart city ecosystem. This documentation provides an overview of the designing process of the (bio-)meteorological weather station network of the Data to Resilience (D2R) project, including the calibration/evaluation results and the implemented quality control checks. It also provides the metadata for each installed station including their location, address, Local Climate Zone (LCZ), surface conditions. On-site pictures are displayed to show the surroundings with features relevant for data interpretation. Each weather station is represented by three maps (position within the network, local-scale, and micro-scale) to provide further information on the siting, the surroundings and reporting the sensor mounting. Additionally, Sky View Factor (SVF) images were generated to further classify each location. This network was installed in cooperation with the Smart City Dortmund, DOdata - SmartCity DataHub Dortmund (DOdata), Dortmunder Netz (DONETZ), and Bochum Urban Climate Lab (BUCL) of the Ruhr-University Bochum. The city of Dortmund is the owner of the network. DOdata is responsible for operation and maintenance, while BUCL provides scientific support. The deployed observation network collects (bio-)meteorological data on a micro-scale. The measured parameters are air temperature, relative humidity (all stations) and solar radiation, black globe temperature, atmospheric pressure, precipitation and wind (selected stations only).
