This policy brief outlines the role of OPERAS National Nodes in connecting European-level research coordination with local Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) communities. National Nodes facilitate bidirectional integration, ensuring local needs inform European initiatives while European services are adapted to national contexts. Through structured networks, strategic outreach, and collaboration with national institutions, the Nodes enhance visibility, accessibility, and impact of open scholarly communication services such as GoTriple, PRISM, and VERA. Despite progress, sustainable funding remains a key challenge. Recommendations include fostering EU-level dialogue, strategic partnerships, and dedicated funding instruments to ensure long-term operational sustainability and strengthen the integration of national and European SSH infrastructures. This policy brief is currently under review by the European Commission.
