A strong network of repositories is essential for safeguarding Europe’s research output and driving scientific excellence across the continent. In March 2025, LIBER, OpenAIRE, SPARC Europe, and COAR launched IMPACT-REPO, a joint plan to promote the vital position of open access repositories in Europe’s research landscape. The plan outlines four key dimensions in which repositories contribute—boosting research impact, fostering inclusiveness, building trust, and supporting innovation. Most repositories are hosted and maintained by libraries. As open science continues to expand, managing repositories will become a greater priority for library services. Join LIBER’s Open Access Working Group in a dynamic discussion on how libraries are shaping the future of repositories—and discover the emerging roles they play in the open science ecosystem. Agenda Moderator: Eloy Rodrigues, Director of the University of Minho Libraries Introduction (Olaf Siegert, ZBW) IMPACT REPO – an Action Plan for Open Repositories in Europe (Kathleen Shearer, COAR) Examples of good practices in repositories: a. Extending the repository metadata set with contract and payment details (Gernot Deinzer, University of Regensburg) b. Publish, Review, Curate and the use of Notify in RepositóriUM (Eloy Rodriguez, University de Minho) Questions and Comments Wrap-Up (Olaf Siegert, ZBW) Recording You can access the video recording on LIBER's YouTube channel here.
