Abstract

This study clarifies how the nature of mutual support activities carried out by co-operatives has changed following the introduction of the long-term care insurance system, and subsequent changes to it. It also describes the challenges they face and how they can overcome these to continue their mutual support activities. The study demonstrates how co-operatives' characteristics are reflected in the implementation of mutual support activities. Specifically, we will examine the Iwate co-op's mutual support activities as a case study, providing a detailed description of their background and current status.
