The first engagement session took place on March 18, 2025, in Brussels, with 30 participants attending in a hybrid format. The event aimed to strengthen collaboration in Open Science (OS) and contribute to the European Research Area. A new website and LinkedIn page were launched on March 17, 2025, after discussions with the European Commission’s Open Science Team. The meeting focused on fostering capacity-building over the coming years. Key Stakeholder Groups & Their Interests Trainers (e.g., university lecturers, data stewards) Utilize the GATE report and website for accessing and sharing Open Science resources. Develop and version educational materials collaboratively. Research Community (e.g., researchers, vice presidents) Use the report for professional development and community engagement. Co-create and access Open Science training programs. Policy Makers Leverage GATE’s evidence-based resources to support policymaking. Use the report for informed decision-making in research policies. Research Funding Organizations (RFOs) Employ the report as a reference guide for OS standards in funding applications. Facilitate compliance and improve funding strategies for research projects. Data Infrastructures (e.g., professionals managing research data) Align GATE resources with EOSC nodes and EU Data Spaces. Enhance metadata integration and visibility of research outputs. Conclusion The GATE initiative is developing a collaborative ecosystem where professionals from different sectors can connect, build capacity, and advance Open Science knowledge.
