The University of Geneva (UNIGE) signed in 2023 the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment (ARA) led by the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA). This document presents UNIGE Action Plan for Reforming Research Assessment. It builds on activities and discussions that have been taking place at the University of Geneva for several years now. Its goal is to expand and strengthen these initiatives by creating a space for reflection and exchange on responsible research assessment and establishing a common framework on which the different entities of the University can work. These efforts don’t imply abandoning quantitative metrics based on journal impact factors but complementing them with qualitative and diverse criteria in order to foster a fairer and more comprehensive evaluation system that supports academic excellence encompassing scientific rigor and ethics, originality and relevance, as well as collaborative and sound management practices
