This data set was created to support the C-GLOPS (Copernicus Global Land Operational Services) and WorldCover projects during the time period 2017-2022. Method employed: visual interpretation of very high resolution images and other sources of information using the Geo-Wiki tools. More than 15 interpreters were involved in the data collection exercise. Temporal resolution: 2015. Spatial resolution: 10m x 10m, aligned with Sentinel-2 pixels. Number of records: 16,569,600. Thematic resolution: Bare, Burnt, Crops, Fallow land/shifting cultivation, Grassland, Lichen and moss, Not sure, Shrub, Snow and ice, Trees, Urban/built-up, Water, and Wetland (herbaceous). Fields: validation_id - unique annotation id for a cluster of 100 pixels, each 10m x 10m in size; submission_item_id - unique annotation pixel id, each 10m x 10m in size; sampleid - unique cluster id (cluster of 100 pixels, each 10m x 10m); timestamp - actual annotation time; class_id - unique class id; class_name - land cover class name (see thematic resolution above); reference_year - reference year for each annotation (2015); center_x, center_y - centroids of each 10m x 10m pixel in lon/lat (WGS84).
