SNr subpopulation neuroanatomy

Authors: Mendelsohn;

SNr subpopulation neuroanatomy

Abstract

Matlab scripts used to plot anatomical data related to the study: Segregated basal ganglia output pathways correspond to genetically divergent neuronal subclasses. Data to be processed include cell points, listed as x,y coordinates registered to a common atlas or set of brain coordinates. SNr_BrainJ_anatomy.mlx plots the x,y coordinates (listed in the corresponding .mat file) of neurons in the SNr retrogradely labeled by tracer injection into different brain regioins. Neuronal coordinates corresponding to the SNr were obtained after registering to a common brain atlas using BrainJ. Foxp2_Pou6f2_distribution.mlx plots the x,y coordiantes (listed in the corresponding .mat file) of Foxp2+ and Pou6f2+ neurons located in the SNr. Neuronal coordinates were obtained using Imaris and normalized to brain coordiante landmarks.
