This presentation was delivered during the Federated Queries Workshop, co-oragnised by Wikimedia Germany and WikiMUC, 5-6th December, 2024 in Munich. The presentation outlines current developments at TIB's Open Science Lab in the context of the NFDI4Culture project. Running federated Wikibase instances within NFDI4Culture, as well as beyond (e.g. in collaboration with NFDI4Objects and NFDI4Memory), offers multiple advantages for the reuse of interdisciplinary FAIR data, however various challenges on the technical and user level remain open. The presentation in the context of this workshop aimed to highlight success stories, while outlining next steps that can support improved federation across Wikibase instances and other semantic web resources.
