The extracted files include several shapefiles, each with associated components: municipalities (MUNIs), Morphological Urban Areas (MUAs), Functional Urban Areas (FUAs), and Large Urban Regions (LURs). These files enable the visualization and analysis of geospatial data related to various administrative and urban entities belonging to Local Urban Regions (LURs). It includes geospatial information on boundaries of the entities forming the LURs
This dataset provide the definition of the 304 Large Urban Regions (LURs) in Africa, and contains information on the composition of local units in Africa LURs are an aggregated set of localities forming consistent regions around cities For the definition of LUR, see Rozenblat (2020) and for the building method of African LURs see Rogromel (2024)
This dataset provides the geographic coordinates of the MUAs-core of Africa's 304 LURs. The core MUAs are connected to the urban areas and localities that depend on them to form the LURs. For the definition of LURs, see Rozenblat (2020) and for the method of constructing African LURs, see Rogromel (2024).
