Abstract

Το BalOnSe είναι μια διαδικτυακή εφαρμογή η οποία επιτρέπει στον χρήστη να επισημειώνει βίντεο χορού, χρησιμοποιώντας οντολογία περιγραφής του πεδίου γνώσης της κίνησης και συγκεκριμένα της ορολογίας των κινήσεων του κλασικού μπαλέτου. Ειδικότερα, η εφαρμογή προσφέρει ένα συγκεκριμένο ιεραρχικό λεξιλόγιο το οποίο εκφράζεται στην γλώσσα των οντολογιών OWL-2. Το BalOnSe υποστηρίζει την σημασιολογική αναζήτηση και προσπέλαση των βίντεο, με δύο τρόπους: 1) αξιοποιώντας τα μεταδεδομένα των βίντεο όπως τίτλο, χορευτή, κλπ. και, 2) μέσω της ‘αναζήτηση βάση χορευτικών κινήσεων’, δηλαδή αναζήτηση των βίντεο βάση των επισημειώσεων που έχουν προστεθεί στα βίντεο από τους διάφορους χρήστες. Στο πλαίσιο αυτής της εργασίας παρουσιάζονται τα τεχνικά χαρακτηριστικά της εφαρμογής, η δομή της οντολογίας που χρησιμοποιήθηκε, η αρχιτεκτονική του συστήματος, καθώς και οι τεχνολογίες που υλοποιούν τόσο την διεπαφή όσο και στην τεχνολογική και αρχειοθετική υποδομή της εφαρμογής. Τέλος παρουσιάζονται και αναλύονται κάποιες σχεδιαστικές αποφάσεις τόσο του μοντέλου περιγραφής του πεδίου όσο και της ίδιας της διεπαφής. BalOnSe (named after the ballet step balance) is an ontology-based web interface that allows the user to annotate classical ballet videos, with a hierarchical domain specific vocabulary and also provides an archival system for videos of dance. The interface integrates a hierarchical vocabulary based on classical ballet syllabus terminology (Ballet.owl) implemented as an OWL-2 ontology. BalOnSe supports the search and browsing of the multimedia content using metadata (title, dancer featured, etc.), and also implements the functionality of "searching by movement concepts", i.e., filtering the videos that are associated with particular required terms of the vocabulary, based on previous submitted annotations. In this work, I would like to dwell deeper on some of the technical characteristics of the application, such as, analyze the underlying structure of the used ontology and it’s conceptual modeling decisions, talk about the choices made when picking the front-end and back-end technologies for the implementation and finally highlight the main functionality of the system.
