Arbidol as a broad-spectrum antiviral: An update

Abstract
Highlights • Arbidol (ARB) is licensed in Russia and China for the treatment of influenza and other viral infections. • ARB inhibits a large panel of viral pathogens, enveloped or not. • ARB displays a dual binding activity to lipid membranes and to viral or cellular proteins. • It blocks viral endocytosis and replication in membranous intracellular compartments.
