PENGARUH BAHAN POLES TERHADAP KEKERASAN PERMUKAAN BASIS NILON TERMOPLASTIK

Abstract

PENDAHULUAN: Basis gigi tiruan harus memiliki kekerasan permukaan yang tinggi untuk memaksimalkan ketahanannya terhadap abrasi, goresan, dan daya kerusakan permukaan yang dapat mempengaruhi lama pemakaian suatu gigi tiruan. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi kekerasan permukaan adalah kekasaran permukaan. Oleh karena itu, proses penghalusan dan pemolesan pada basis menjadi tahapan yang penting. Bahan poles yang sering digunakan pada nilon termoplastik adalah pumis, selain itu ada bahan alternatif lain yang dapat digunakan yaitu pasta gigi dan cangkang telur karena memiliki sifat abrasif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan nilai kekerasan permukaan basis nilon termoplastik setelah dipoles menggunakan pumis, pasta gigi dan cangkang telur. METODE: Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratoris yang menggunakan sampel berbentuk kepingan silinder ( Bioplast ) dengan ukuran diameter 40 mm dan ketebalan 2 mm. Terdapat jumlah keseluruhan 30 sampel untuk 3 kelompok. Kekerasan permukaan diukur dengan Vickers Hardness Test (Future Tech FM-800) . Data yang diperoleh secara statistika diuji dengan uji one-way ANOVA. HASIL: Perbandingan nilai kekerasan permukaan nilon termoplastik setelah dipoles dengan pumis, pasta gigi, dan cangkang telur adalah 6,93 : 7,1 : 7,29 VHN. Hasil uji one-way ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada nilai kekerasan permukaan antara ketiga kelompok dengan signifikansi p = 0,0001 (p<0,05). SIMPULAN: Kekerasan permukaan nilon termoplastik tertinggi terdapat pada kelompok cangkang telur dan nilon termoplastik yang dipoles dengan bahan poles alternatif pasta gigi dan cangkang telur menghasilkan nilai kekerasan permukaan yang lebih tinggi dibanding yang dipoles dengan pumis.
