The Tissue Engineering is the branch of engineering that is concerned in the development of methodologies and strategies for the repair, regeneration and replacement of damaged tissues and organs. The nerve tissue regeneration is a complex biological phenomenon. The Peripheral Nervous System regenerates substantially in its promising environment, while the Central Nervous System, in particular in the spinal cord, does not regenerate substantially in its native environment. This work consists of a literature research of tissue engineering applied to the nerve tissue, including the methodologies achieved so far in the regeneration of this tissue. However, the clinical applicability is still not significant, so that research on this level is still very promising.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
