Nivel de desarrollo cognoscitivo, segun la teoría de Piaget y su correlación con rendimiento académico y la prueba de admisión, en estudiantes de nuevo ingreso al ITCR

Abstract

Los problemas de rendimiento académico parecen ser un mal endémico de las universidades estatales costarricenses. En el Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica podemos estimar la magnitud del problema refiriéndonos a algunos de sus indicadores. Según datos tomados de Barquero y Meneses (1988), con respecto al total de estudiantes que ingresaron en 1981, se presenta la siguiente situación al primer semestre de 1988 (más de 7 años después): 20,98% graduados, 14,71% aún matriculados, 64,31% retirados. Del total de graduados 69,16% se graduaron entre 5 y 6 años después de su ingreso, mientras que las carreras están diseñadas para 4 años de duración.
