Abstract

L' Amplified Fragment Lenght Polymorphism (AFLP) è una tecnica di fingerprinting molecolare basata sulla restrizione e l'amplificazione del DNA (Vos et al. 1995; Zabeau et al. 1993). Con questa metodica è possibile generare un numero estremamente elevato di marcatori (anche oltre 100) con una singola combinazione di enzima di restrizione e primer. In particolare l'utilizzo di questa tecnica per l’analisi dei batteri del suolo ha permesso di ottenere interessanti risultati, riuscendo a differenziare sia specie strettamente imparentate che ceppi di una stessa specie (Biondi et al. 2003). L’AFLP viene inoltre utilizzata come tecnica per la ricerca di QTL (Quantitative Trait Loci, loci il cui polimorfismo è correlato con caratteri quantitativi) e per analisi di genetica di popolazione in organismi eucarioti, sia vegetali che animali.
