Comunità fitoplanctoniche e climatologia nell'Adriatico Settentrionale

Abstract

L'analisi spazio-temporale delle caratteristiche fisiche ed idrochimiche della colonna d'acqua correlata allo studio della struttura delle comunità planctoniche consente una fondamentale valutazione dei cambiamenti climatici dell'ecosistema marino. In Adriatico Settentrionale lo studio dell'ecosistema planctonico, iniziato fin dai primi anni '70 e proseguito fino ad oggi nell'ambito di diversi progetti di ricerca nazionali ed europei, ha evidenziato trend temporali significativi nelle condizioni del bacino ed in particolare un aumento della temperatura negli ultimi 20 anni. Gli studi sul fitoplancton hanno permesso di identificare la successione stagionale delle specie dominanti, con la definizione di un "calendario del plancton" per l'area. L'ampia copertura temporale delle ricerche sull'ecologia del plancton ha consentito l'inserimento dell'Alto Adriatico tra i siti di ricerca ecologica a lungo termine della rete internazionale LTER.
