Histoire culturelle du cinéma

Abstract

Le séminaire « Histoire culturelle du cinéma » inaugure cette année un nouveau cycle proposant d’explorer la part inhérente aux acteurs, aux questions et aux phénomènes sociaux constitutifs du champ de recherche auquel il se consacre depuis vingt ans. Si l’histoire culturelle peut être définie comme une histoire sociale des représentations, il s’agira ici de centrer la focale sur l’étude des conditions sociales de production, de diffusion, de réception et d’appropriation des images cinématographiques. Dans quels espaces sociaux le cinéma s’est-il inscrit historiquement ? Comment a-t-il participé à la constitution ou à la définition de groupes et de collectifs au sein de sociétés données ? De la culture professionnelle propre à tel ou tel métier aux liens tissés par le partage de pratiques et de références cinématographiques communes, comment les interactions sociales ont-elles façonné en retour le cinéma comme fait de culture ? Telles seront quelques-unes des questions abordées au fil de ces séances qui, en en croisant les objets, les outils et les méthodes, ambitionnent in fine d’interroger l’imbrication étroite entre l’histoire culturelle et l’histoire sociale du cinéma.
