Abstract

Introduction: Soccer is a sport that involves high injury rates in players and where the most affected body region is the hamstring area. Goal: To compare the efficacy of a combined therapy with plyometric exercises and eccentric hamstring work in amateur soccer players, with respect to the exclusive use of eccentric work, in reducing the number of injuries, improving stability, jumping capacity and eccentric loading. Material and methods: Randomized clinical trial carried out on soccer players between 18 and 30 years of age from La Bañeza who have suffered a hamstring injury, in which the number of injuries compared to the previous season and the changes will be evaluated after undergoing a 6-month therapy in stability in jumping capacity and eccentric load. Results analysis plan: It will be done using SPSS v. 25, with a significance level of 5%. Quantitative variables with normal distribution will be related to Pearson's correlation coefficient and Spearman's coefficient in the case of non-parametric variables. Strengths and weaknesses: It is a novel project with which we will be able to objectify if this combined therapy improves stability and reduces injuries to the hamstring muscles. It is feasible, with simple techniques and inexpensive materials. The small sample size is the main weakness of this study. Discussion/ Conclusion: Good results have been shown using these therapies separately, so we think that this combined therapy would be a better choice to reduce the rate of injuries and improve the functionality of the player.
