Sistemas de anestesia local en odontopediatría

Abstract

La odontología nunca ha dejado de avanzar, sobre todo si nos referimos a la tecnología y al desarrollo de materiales innovadores. A pesar de todo, el miedo y la ansiedad en los niños siguen siendo uno de los principales problemas en una relación exitosa y de confianza entre paciente pediátrico y dentista. OBJETIVO: El objetivo de este trabajo es conocer, profundizar y comparar los sistemas de anestesia local diferentes a la jeringa convencional utilizados en odontopediatría. METODOLOGÍA: Se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica en las bases de datos Medline Complete, PubMed, Scopus, Web Of Science, Google Scholar, Dialnet y UpToDate obteniendo un total de 32 artículos para la elaboración de la discusión tras aplicar los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Además se elaboró una encuesta de 17 preguntas sobre los sistemas de anestesia local más utilizados en odontopediatría, la cual se distribuyó entre diversos profesionales. RESULTADOS: La encuesta fue enviada a 90 profesionales españoles e italianos y 42 fueron las respuestas totales. El porcentaje de los datos indicó que la mayoría de los odontólogos sigue utilizando la jeringa convencional como principal sistema de anestesia a la hora de tratar pacientes pediátricos. DISCUSION: El sistema CCLAD, la anestesia dental electrónica, los aparatos vibrotáctiles y las jeringas sin aguja son solo algunos de los recién dispositivos introducidos que se pueden utilizar para anestesiar localmente en odontopediatria. Los mismos parecen ser más aceptados y competitivos en términos de efectividad en comparación con la jeringa convencional. CONCLUSIONES: En la actualidad existen diversos sistemas para lograr una adecuada anestesia en los pacientes infanto-juveniles, debiendo elegir el más indicado según las peculiaridades individuales del paciente a tratar.
