Abstract

The objective of this case study is to carry out an online intervention from the Rational Emotive Behavioral (TREC) approach in a 29-year-old female patient with anxiety (unhealthy emotion) caused by irrational beliefs. The purpose of the intervention is to reeducate her cognitively, emotionally, and behaviorally using REBT techniques to replace irrational beliefs with a more rational, logical, and more effective long-term philosophy of life that leads to healthy feelings and functional behaviors. The therapy lasted 4 months, in sessions of approximately one hour per week. At the end of the intervention, the patient evidenced a change from irrational beliefs to more rational ones, manifesting healthy emotions and functional behaviors helping her to achieve her personal goals. Therefore, it is concluded that the intervention from the REBT approach was effective, achieving the objectives proposed for the treatment of the case.
