La ultrasonografía diagnóstica es hoy por hoy un instrumento importante en el estudio abdominal y en forma particular, en el diagnóstico de apendicitis aguda, con valores de sensibilidad y especificidad por encima del 90%, mientras que para el diagnóstico clínico, estos valores se encuentran entre un 60 y 80% según se trate de un paciente de alta, mediana o baja sospecha de la enfermedad.
