This diploma thesis focuses on adolescents with severe mental disabilities and the influence of classical music on them. We carried out a study on a group of adolescents, living at home Žarek, facility of healthcare care center Matevž Langus in Radovljica. Many people confuse mental illness with mental disability, therefore the theoretical part of this thesis explains, what a developmental disorder is, significant differences compared to a mental illness and to which areas of human life this disorder extends, who the people with mental disabilities are and how they live. We focused our study on adolescents with severe mental disorders. Since the most important part of this thesis was the classical music, we divided the music into time periods, focusing on composers who had an impact on history with their works. Those works were also listened to by our adolescents involved in our study. The empirical part of the thesis includes a presentation of the study of patient observations,, their diagnosis and status, course of research and presentation of the results. The study was carried out from October 2015 to June 2016 on a group of eight adolescents from healthcare center CUDV Matevž Langus in Radovljica. The team who participated in this study was composed of guardians and educators, who also recorded all the observations. Before conducting the research, we formed four research questions to be answered for the purpose of this thesis. Those answers are also presented in this diploma thesis.
Veliko ljudi zamenjuje duševno bolezen z motnjo v duševnem razvoju, zato smo v teoretičnem delu obrazložili, kaj sploh je motnja v duševnem razvoju in pomembne razlike v primerjavi z duševno boleznijo, na katera področja človekovega življenja sega, kdo so osebe z motnjo v duševnem razvoju in kako živijo. Empirični del diplomske naloge zajema predstavitev v raziskavi opazovanih uporabnikov, njihove diagnoze in stanja, potek raziskave in predstavitev dobljenih rezultatov. Raziskavo smo opravljali med oktobrom 2015 in junijem 2016 v skupini osmih uporabnikov, v CUDV Matevža Langusa v Radovljici.
