A cooperative is a group of people who unite voluntarily to meet common social and economic needs, through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise. To meet these needs more effectively, cooperatives come together in federations, associations, and other alliances at the local, regional, national, and international levels. Cooperatives are based on the values of mutual assistance, mutual responsibility and equity. They represent honesty and transparency. They pursue their objectives and respect their values by applying the following principles as a master guide in their activities.
