Tratamientos para cistitis intersticial: revisión sistemática

Abstract

Interstitial cystitis is a rare urological disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the bladder wall with myositis causing painful pressure on the bladder wall. Its etiology is unknown since the exact causative factors are not known and there are several theories. There are two variants of this disease, the classic one, in which ulcers appear, and the non-ulcerous one. Despite the existence of these two types of variants, the symptoms they produce are common. In both cases there is frequency, dysuria, pelvic pain and urinary urgency, all in the absence of urinary tract infection. This symptomatology causes in patients who suffer it a high loss of quality of life and a high economic cost to deal with it. The aim of this review was to determine which treatments patients suffering from IC perceived to improve after their administration, in order to improve their quality of life. A systematic bibliographic review was carried out by searching the Pumbed, Web Of Sciencie and EBSCO databases for clinical trials on IC treatment and care, choosing a total of 32 articles that passed the JADAD methodological evaluation scale and the scientific evidence quality and GRADE recommendation scale. The result obtained was that there are not many studies, and there is no treatment that eliminates the symptoms in a radical way.
