Türkmenlerin Rus hâkimiyetine boyun eğmek zorunda kaldıkları Göktepe Savaşları; ulusal bilinç ve millet kimliği kazanma noktasında önemli dönemeçlerin aşılmasına katkı sa ğlamıştır. Göktepe Savaşları, bu trajediyi yakından yaşayan toplumsal hayatı incitici sonuçlar içeriyor olsa da, millî kimliğe ve tarihî hafızaya güç vermiş ve bu iki düşünceyi beslemiştir. Sanatçının, dünyayı değiştirmek ve dönüştürmek gibi bir işlevinin olduğu bilinmektedir. Özellikle milletin ve devletin çözülüş dönemlerinde, sanatın her biçimi, yeni bir dünyanın tasavvuru için önemli bir rol üstlenir. Ya zar, bir anlamda yalnızlığa itilen toplumun vicdanıdır. Türkmen yazar Ata Govş udov’da, Göktepe Savaşı ve sonrası devri edebî bir metinde o rtaya koyarak, millî ruhu, ortak kimliği harekete geçirmeye ve yeniden inşa etmeye çalışmıştır. Bu makalede de Ata Govş u- dov’un Ferman romanından hareketle, millî kimliğin yeniden inşası sürecinde millî kültür unsurlarının nasıl kullanıldığı o rtaya konulmaya çalışılacaktır.

The Göktepe Wars, in which the Turkmens were forced to submit to Russian rule, contributed greatly to their acquisitio n of national consciousness and identity. Despite their painful results, the Göktepe Wars also served significantly to strengthen national identity and historical memory. The artist is known to have a function of changing and transforming the world. Especially at times of the disintegration of the nation and the state, any form of art plays a crucial role for a new vision of the World. The author, in a sense, is the conscience of the society that has been pushed to solitude. The Turkmen writer, Ata Govşudov, has similarly tried to mobilize and reconstruct a national spirit and a co mmon identity by depicting the Göktepe War and its after- math. This article focuses on Ata Govşudov's novel, Ferman in order to explore how elements of national culture are used in the reconstruction of national identity.
