In the introduction; the Government of Banu Ahmar was studied and political, social and economic information about the neighboring countries was given. In chapter One; the informations about the life of Ibn al-Khaûb, his education life, his scholars and his students was given. After that hw flee from the country and his murder in Mağrib were studied. In the same chapter; Ibn al- Khatib's written works except for history were introduced. In chapter Two; Ibn al-Khatib^ personality was studied. For this reason, firstly the political structure of the Government of Banu Ahmar was outlined. Then the official works of Ibn al-Khatib and his political struggles were given. At the and of this chapter, the ideas and activites, which pave the way for important changes in Ibn al-Khatib >s life, was studied with his political theories. In chapter Three; Ibn al-Khatib as a historian was studied and the information about his understanding of history was given. After that his works about history were introduced, the information about the method which he used while writing his work, his style and the written sources which he benefited from and the methodology he applied while benefitting from sources were given. Finally, the effect of Ibn al-Khatib on the following generations and impact of his works as written sources in history were studied. In this way, the political identity and historiography of Ibn al-Khatib, who was regarded as an influential figure by his contemporaries and by today's academia, was examined and he was introduced to the world ofacademia. Bölümde Îbntt'l-Hatîh'm tarihçiliği incelendi Tarih anlayışı hakkında bilgi verildikten sonra tarihle ilgili eserleri tanıtıldı. Tarih konularını kaleme alırken uyguladığı metot, sahip olduğu üslup ve faydalandığı kaynaklar ve bu kaynakları kullanma şekli hakkında bilgi verildi Son olarak, İhmü'l- Hafih'm kendisinden sonrakilere etkisi ve eserlerinin tarihî kaynak olarak değeri ele alındı. Böylece döneminin etkili bir ismi olan ve hem çağdaşlarıma hem de günümüz bilim çevrelerince takdir edilen Îbmü'l-Haüb'm siyâsî kişiliği ve tarihçiliği incelenerek akademik dünyamızın bilgisine sunuldu. Gerek îbnü% Hatib gerekse Benî Ahmer Devleti çeşitli yönleriyle yeni araştırmalara konu olabilecek bir özellik arz etmektedir.
