Biocombustibles líquidos: procesos y tecnologías

Abstract

Los numerosos problemas medioambientales creados por la acumulación de gases de efecto invernadero, la creciente demanda de energía y el agotamiento de la reservas de petróleo han impulsado el desarrollo de tecnologías sostenibles basadas en materias primas renova- bles como la biomasa. En este sentido los biocombustibles (combustibles derivados de la biomasa) pueden ayudar a reducir la emisión de gases contaminantes y, al mismo tiempo, cumplir con las demandas futuras de energía. La presente contribución pretende proporcionar un breve resumen de las tecnologías actuales para la producción de biocombustibles líquidos incluyendo transesterificación, fermentación, gasificación, pirólisis y procesado catalítico de moléculas plataforma en disolución acuosa.
