La fitotoxicidad por cloruro en el cultivo del caqui: descripcion del problema

Abstract

La gran expansión del cultivo del caqui en la Comunidad Valenciana puede verse frenada por la aparición de la fisiopatía por toxicidad al cloruro. Esta afección que cursa con necrosis foliar afecta al crecimiento del árbol, a su productividad y también a la calidad de la fruta y al tratamiento de desastringencia poscosecha del fruto. No existe un único factor que desencadene esta fisiopatía, sino que es el resultado de la combinación de varios: 1) la escasa tolerancia del patrón D. /otus al cloruro, 2) la insuficiente calidad de muchas aguas de riego para un patrón tan sensible, 3) la permeabilidad insuficiente del suelo al agua, 4) la escasa capacidad de penetración de las raíces de D. /otus, 5) la utilización de abonos clorurados, y 6) las lluvias escasas que no lavan el cloruro del suelo durante el otoño-inviernoprimavera. Este aspecto multifactorial de la fisiopatía hace que no exista una solución única que resuelva el problema, y que se deba abordar desde diferentes frentes. En este artículo se describe en detalle el problema de la fitotoxicidad por cloruro en el cultivo del caqui, y se analizan sus causas. En un segundo artículo, que se publicará próximamente, se expondrá una guía con recomendaciones encaminadas a mitigar el grado de afección de la fitotoxicidad por cloruro.
