En el IVIA se lleva a cabo el saneamiento de distintos frutales de hueso mediante un protocolo que permite la eliminación de virus y viroides de forma eficaz utilizando el microinjerto in vitro. El protocolo utilizado actualmente para el saneamiento de melocotonero y ciruelo japonés se ha ajustado con éxito para la eliminación del Hop stunt viroid (HSVd) en albaricoquero. La necesidad surgió por la problemática que está suponiendo este viroide en la Región de Murcia, donde está bastante extendido.
