Uso de fungicidas en poscosecha de frutos cítricos

Abstract

España es el primer exportador mundial de cítricos para el consumo en fresco y la Comunitat Valenciana es, con diferencia, la principal zona productora española. Aproximadamente el 80% de la producción española se destina a mercados de la Unión Europea (UE), aunque también hay otros destinos de exportación importantes como pueden ser los EE UU, especialmente para las mandarinas clementinas. En cualquier caso, las pérdidas económicas ocasionadas por las enfermedades de poscosecha constituyen uno de los principales problemas del sector español de los cítricos. La gran mayoría de estas enfermedades, conocidas comúnmente como podredumbres, están causadas por hongos patógenos y se controlan mediante tratamientos poscosecha en las centrales citrícolas con fungicidas químicos de sintesis. En el presente artículo se describen y caracterizan los fungicidas de poscosecha registrados actualmente en España y se analiza la problemática relacionada con su utilización a raiz de las exigencias de los principales mercados de destino y de los últimos cambios legislativos en la UE. Asimismo, se exploran posibles estrategias alternativas de control en un contexto de control integrado no contaminante de enfermedades de poscosecha (CINCEP) y se describen los principales tratamientos químicos alternativos que se están aplicando actualmente en España.
