Transexualismo y Vínculos Familiares

Abstract

Transexualism and family ties. Given the different interpretative perspectives on the end of the modern family, with the crisis of social and psychological roles defined, the author proposes a psychoanalytic reflection on fundamental psychological processes that are at work in the construction of family ties and parent-child. In this theoretical framework, the gender identity disorder poses a question on many crucial issues in the psychoanalytic field: psycho-sexuality, trauma, mind-body relationship, the identity in its narcissistic and objective matrix, psychopathology, defenses, and finally, family, cultural and social order. Some clinical considerations support the theoretical hypothesis about the relationship between transexualism and the intergenerational transmission, about the possible influence of the family on unconscious attribution of gender identity to the unborn child. A “Phantom” unspeakable involves the extended family, so, even if it lives in the patient and speaks through him, it alludes to a secret, to a loss, to a fault that runs short-circuiting the mind-body.
