La filosofia sociale del pragmatismo. Un'introduzione

Abstract

Negli ultimi anni il valore e l’originalità dei contributi di pensatori e pensatrici come Charles S. Peirce, William James, George Herbert Mead, John Dewey, Jane Addams e Mary Parker Follett sono stati riscoperti, suscitando una nuova ondata di studi e di interesse per il pragmatismo. Il volume ricostruisce l’apporto del pensiero pragmatista nell’ambito specifico della filosofia sociale, confrontandosi con altre discipline: la filosofia politica, la filosofia morale, la sociologia, la scienza politica e la psicologia. Vengono messe in luce e riorganizzate le discussioni interne a un movimento composito e plurale, animato da personalità complesse e impossibili da confinare in un ambito tematico o disciplinare ristretto. La ricostruzione della filosofia sociale pragmatista andrà così di pari passo con la riflessione sulla validità e l’originalità dei suoi risultati teorici.
