Abstract

Il vino è protagonista di molti proverbi classici che spesso hanno costituito il punto di partenza per tradizioni tuttora vive. Esso innanzi tutto libera dalle inibizioni (In vino veritas), e questo ha risvolti positivi e negativi: rivela la verità, riempie di gioia e consola negli affanni, ma fa anche annebbiare pericolosamente la mente; è associato a momenti di eccezionale gioia (Nunc est bibendum) ma porta anche a comportamenti ridicoli e irrazionali (fa ballare anche i vecchi). Così pure, per quanto riguarda il suo influsso sulla produzione poetica, da una parte viene esaltato, dall’altra deprezzato, e i ‘bevitori di vino’ si oppongono ai ‘bevitori d’acqua’ come fautori di due diversi tipi di poesia.
