Abstract

Il ma può essere assimilato a un vuoto; non il Vuoto, bensì un vuoto relativo, circoscritto, entro un “campo” che lo contiene idealmente, come la stanza giapponese o il tokono-ma all’interno della stessa: un inter-vallo (lo spazio vuoto posto “tra” un “vallo” e un altro di una palizzata, letteralmente), dunque un luogo, come lo zero è un numero. Il tokonoma presuppone la stanza, ma la stanza stessa presuppone un vuoto più ampio entro cui il suo vuoto relativo prende forma attraverso le pareti mobili che la circoscrivono. Il vuoto si estende così in un potenziale regressus ad infinitum. Ma come concepire questo regressus ad infinitum, e per giunta del vacuum? Come un vuoto che si estende all’infinito, come una serie infinita di cerchi concentrici? Due cruces del pensiero occidentale, da cui possiamo partire per cercare di comprendere meglio, per via comparativa, il vuoto di cui vogliamo parlare.
