La devianza come sociologia

Abstract

La devianza, nella sua accezione originaria di scostamento dalla norma statistica, è uno dei concetti di base della sociologia. Da fatti, fenomeni, soggetti e culture devianti sono nate le teorie e le scuole che maggiormente hanno contribuito a dare alla sociologia dignità di scienza autonoma. Durante il secolo scorso la devianza è diventata sempre più appannaggio della criminologia, ma non per questo la sociologia, nel suo eclettismo e nella sua pluridimensionalità, può dimenticarsi delle forme di devianza nella loro totalità, si tratti di conflitto, droga, malattia, prostituzione o follia. La strutturazione del volume nella forma del glossario permette la fruizione dei suoi contenuti anche in maniera segmentata e non lineare, in quanto in ogni lemma sarà possibile conoscere storia e autori di riferimento o pratiche e protocolli operativi, tecniche di indagine e teorie epistemologiche o ricerche attuali e condizioni sociali. Il filo conduttore del volume è sottolineare il ruolo della devianza che, per la sociologia, è più importante della normalità.
