The purpose of this book is to explain how – in a global world – the local societies could play an important role in the economic issues of the territories and to try to understand why some cities succeed, also in time of world recession, to withstand and to effectively react to the speculative waves that get depressed on the world markets, while others assist impotent to the inevitable erosion of his own productive base. The presupposition that drives the writing of this book is the recognition that, in a world that is done more and more conformed, the engineering of the local politics represents a factor of great importance for the development or for the economic decline.
