Abstract

Il libro prende in esame il ruolo che la "città centrale" ha avuto nella costruzione della città europea e le trasformazioni che la città centrale stessa ha subito nel corso degli ultimi decenni, insieme alle conseguenze che tali trasformazioni hanno avuto sul sistema delle centralità. Attraverso la presentazione di una serie di casi in diversi paesi europei, il libro mette in luce l'importanza che la "città centrale" continua a svolgere all'interno della città europea, anche a fronte delle profonde trasformazioni economiche e sociali che si sono verificate in questi ultimi decenni.
