Abstract

Il porto di Ischia è uno spazio naturale: il cuore dell'isola, un luogo introverso ed egocentrico, una depressione del terreno riempita d'acqua in cui è depositato il senso profondo dell'insularità ischitana; un ambito spaziale originariamente chiuso, violato dal taglio che centosessant'anni fa lo ha collegato al mare aperto. Il porto di Casamicciola è una struttura artificiale: una diga foranea gettata sull'acqua, a protezione di un ambito spaziale sensibile; un'attrezzatura funzionale che ha consolidato e protetto un tratto costiero, per adeguarlo all'approdo delle imbarcazioni. Da una parte un porto storico, sorto su un luogo dai caratteri singolari; dall'altra un porto moderno, edificato su un tratto litoraneo come altri.
