Quando il fungicida è un antagonista biologico

Abstract

Negli ultimi anni la discussione sul rischio legato alla contaminazione dei cibi da parte di prodotti fitosanitari di sintesi chimica e sul loro impatto negativo sull’ambiente ha coinvolto molto l’opinione pubblica. Nonostante la regolamentazione europea per l’immissione sul mercato dei prodotti fitosanitari sia tra le più cautelative e richieda la presentazione di una documentazione molto approfondita volta ad escludere possibili rischi per l’uomo e per l’ambiente, nell’immaginario collettivo la difesa fitosanitaria è ancora troppo spesso associata ad un intervento molto impattante e potenzialmente pericoloso. Parallelamente ad un severo iter registrativo, gli stati membri hanno anche messo in atto azioni (piani d’azione nazionale per l’uso sostenibile dei prodotti fitosanitari, previsti dalla direttiva 2009/128/CE, recepita in Italia con il decreto legislativo del 14 agosto 2012), mirate a ridurre i rischi e gli impatti derivanti dall’utilizzo dei prodotti fitosanitari ed implicitamente a ridurre l’uso di molecole di sintesi chimica, soprattutto favorendo un loro coretto impiego e stimolando l’utilizzo di approcci alternativi.
