Abstract

A la hora de diseñar un almacén, la política de almacenamiento dedicado estipula que una hilera de almacenaje no puede contener palés de distintas referencias. Esto provoca que, una vez adjudicada a una referencia, la hilera no se puede reasignar hasta que haya sido completamente vaciada. En las situaciones, por tanto, en las que está a medio llenar, los huecos vacíos son espacio inutilizado, perdido. A este efecto de pérdida de almacenamiento debido a la exclusividad de las hileras a una referencia se lo conoce como honeycombing. En el presente trabajo se pretende estudiar cómo afecta este fenómeno a distintos sistemas de almacenamiento y distintas configuraciones de hilera a través del desarrollo de una aplicación que permita plasmar de manera visual la dependencia del factor de utilización global, Fu , con los parámetros antes mencionados. Esta aplicación tiene también la finalidad de servir de herramienta para los alumnos de la asignatura Sistemas de Decisión en Logística, del Máster en Ingeniería Industrial de la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de la Universidad de Sevilla.

When designing a wharehouse, dedicated storage policies provide that no two different products can ocuppy the same storge location. This means each lane is reserved for an assigned reference and only that reference may be stored there. Thus, whenever the lane is half-full, the non-occupied slots represent a space loss, which takes the name of honeycombing loss. The main objective of this dissertation is to study how different storage racks are affected by this issue. It has been achieved by developing a tool that allows for a visual analysis of the dependence of several factors in the cube utilization, Fu . This tool is as well meant to help students in the Decision Making Systems for Logistics course of the M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering at Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería of Universidad de Sevilla.
