The enlightenment which emerged in the 17th century and made its peak in the 18th century Europe has showed its effects in all aspects of life and it has brought about a period of reconstruction in civil life as well as on intellectual topics.In this study we tried to clarify the phenomenon of deism that reflects the transformation in the spiritual matters in western world with special emphasis on Voltaire who led the spread of it within the society in the 18th century.

Avrupa'da 17. yüzyılda başlayıp 18. yüzyılda doruğa çıkan Aydınlanma, kendini yaşamın her alanında göstermiş; gerek günlük yaşamda gerekse zihni planda yeniden bir yapılanmayı meydana getirmiştir.Bu çalışma ile batıda inanç yönünden meydana gelen değişimi ifade eden deizm olgusu ve bunu 18. yüzyılda en iyi bir şekilde topluma yayabilmiş olan Voltaire anlatılmaya çalışılmıştır.
