Contextos de acción y contextos de interpretación

Abstract

The reflection on the contexts of action and the preliminary characteristic of certain practices as a consequence of their understanding, places Charles S. Peirce and Antonio Grasmci in a common area of interest in a practical philosophy of praxis self-aware of its own limits and therefore responsible, i.e. ethics. Both made part of an important theoretical renewal movement in the first half of the twentieth century, whose main characteristic was to oppose, in a critical and explicit way to the growing totalitarian ideologies, appearing in turn as a valid and aceptable anti- positivist, alternative. Holding a shared phylogenetic relation between Peirce and Gramsci does not imply asserting the existence of any kind of influence, because there was really not , as far as it can be verified, a direct relation between them. In this work I will proceed from both authors’ redefinition and relativization of the concept of truth in the ideas of constrastation and consensus (as well as their relation) , and then develop my hypothesis on the common reflection around two groups of concepts: a) reality, hegemony and narrative b) beliefs, pedagogical relations and aesthetic structures. I will propose this integrated reading of Peirce’s and Gramsci’s epistemological and aesthetic conception , as part of a larger program, such as the reconstruction of a number of ideas that circulated in a particular historical moment and made part of the spirit of the age, from a common critical root to positivism and its new variants applied to the social sciences.
