The article outlines the work of Jeseph Führich during the first three decades of the 19th century. It deals with the work of his father Wenzel, maps Josephs´ position within the family workshop, his formation on the Academy in Prague, and also his painting during the 1820s when he became the leading figure of religious patriotic painting in Prague and at the same time continued to supply altar paintings to northern Bohemia.
