Las instituciones de microfinanzas: comparativa regional

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This work was carried out with the main objective to update the current status of microfinance institutions dividing between 6 regions around the world. Has given special attention to the evolution of the number of financial institutions and the number of borrowers, the portfolio quality of the organizations in each region and what are the most common types of bodies in each area. To perform this analysis, initially it was made an introduction to the subject, defining the terms of microfinance and microcredit, developing different methods of existing microcredits and finally explained the evolution of microcredits from its inception to nowadays. Subsequently, each region has been studied separately, and eventually made a brief comparison of the 6 regions together. Data have been obtained, for the most part, on the MIX Market database, a platform cooperating with the most important microfinance institutions in each region, so we can say that the final data are fully representative. With this work conclusions are drawn as to which is the region with the highest number of institutions, or that it is the area with the highest number of borrowers. At the end of the work it will be that the fact that a region has the highest number of agencies, it does not mean that more borrowers have. You'll also see which is the region with the highest percentage of outstanding claims, or what are the most common types of institutions in each area.
