Abstract

This cultural and social phenomenon is characterised by the rapid diffusion of models of behaviour and self-presentation that impose themselves on the choices and tastes of individuals, becoming collective. The reflections of certain women sociologists have drawn attention to the correlation between fashion and modernity, and the part it plays in the contemporary world. In this setting, fashion has been shown to function as a potent instrument for the expression of diverse identity games, varied power and gender relations.
