Abstract

This internship curricular report, in partnership with Águas e Parque Biológico de Gaia, EEM, titled "Evaluation of the absorption capacity in Industrial WWTP", had three main points as objectives: developing an approach to evaluate the real capability of an already existent wastewater treatment plant (WWTP of Febros), providing a groundwork for the application of the methodology to the set of drainage basins; apply the methodology to a case study in order to test its validation; regarding the case study, identify the relevant information found in the Municipal Regulation of Gaia (Municipal Regulation n.º 284/2009) for the connections of industrial effluents. This report started with the analysis of the WWTP design data base, in order to compare them with the currently verified data. Analysis of the different compartments and equipment of the WWTP was also made and compared with the values in the literature. Next, the WWTP's operational conditions were analyzed, evaluating the industrial wastewater flow rate of the WWTP of Febros. Lastly, the capacity of additional absorption of industrial effluents was evaluated for the same plant. The main conclusions from this report are as follows: the WWTP of Febros has additional capacity to absorb wastewater flow rate, already taking into account the values of infiltration considered in its design; and the additional capacity to absorb industrial wastewater, as compared to currently existing connections , showed values between 1300 m3/d considering a BOD5 concentration of 800 mg/l or about 800 m3/d if that concentration is of 1000 mg/l.

Relatório de estágio curricular, em parceria com a empresa Águas e Parque Biológico de Gaia, EEM, intitulado de "Avaliação da capacidade de absorção de efluentes industriais em ETAR", tendo como objetivos os três pontos que se seguem: desenvolver uma abordagem para avaliar a real capacidade de tratamento de uma Estação de Tratamento de Águas Residuais já construída, ETAR de Febros, constituindo a base de uma metodologia a aplicar ao conjunto de bacias drenantes; aplicar a metodologia a um caso de estudo para a sua validação; com base no caso de estudo, identificar a informação relevante a contemplar no Regulamento Municipal de Gaia (Regulamento Municipal n.º 284/2009) para as ligações de efluentes industriais. Neste relatório começou-se por analisar os dados de base de dimensionamento da ETAR, para posterior comparação com os dados verificados atualmente. Fez-se também a análise ao dimensionamento dos órgãos e equipamentos da ETAR para se comparar com os valores presentes na literatura. De seguida, analisou-se condições operacionais da ETAR em que se fez a avaliação do caudal industrial da ETAR de Febros. Por fim, avaliou-se a capacidade adicional de absorção de efluentes industriais para esta ETAR. Como principais conclusões, a ETAR de Febros apresenta uma capacidade adicional de absorção de caudal mesmo tendo em consideração os valores de infiltração considerados no seu projeto; e a capacidade adicional de absorção de efluentes industriais, face às ligações atualmente existentes situa-se entre 1300 m3/d considerando uma concentração em CBO5 de efluente industrial de 800 mg/l ou de cerca de 800 m3/d se essa concentração for de 1000 mg/l.
