The work, which deals with the articles of the penitentiary system that regulate permits, clearly highlights the indisputable value that the permit assumes in the progressive treatment path that is the basis of the prisoner's recovery and his social reintegration. Having outlined the peculiarities of the two types of permits, namely the permit of necessity and the permit reward, for each of them the following profiles are analyzed, recalling the most recent jurisprudence and the most authoritative doctrine, not without a critical approach: prerequisites, competences, executive methods, preclusions, as well as procedural aspects, with particular reference to the institution of the complaint against the provision that grants or denies the benefit in question.
