Diluir fronteiras

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Borders and Boundaries are broad concepts, often applied to diverse knowledge fields and which appear in different ways, in different contexts. In the architecture field, the ways how borders interact with humans can result in elements which allow organizing, limiting and understanding the territory in a positive or negative way. A reflection on the political organization panorama of the territory of the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, gives a chance to investigate the borders that divide the territory of Tagus’s Southern Riverside Area. Solving Borders investigate the assumptions and tools that architecture use to identify border situations from the scale of the territory, urbanism and architecture and change this condition. Case studies will be presented in this investigation - which because of their interest and similar geographical conditions were important sources of knowledge - where the application of several project parameters will work as guides for the architectonic proposal.
