Abstract

A batata-doce propaga-se por via vegetativa, sendo que a qualidade do material de propagação é essencial para o sucesso da cultura. A presença de material de viveiro infetado com vírus e outras doenças provoca decréscimos muito significativos na produção. A utilização de estacas provenientes de cultura meristemática é uma boa prática para a garantia da qualidade do material, mas é um processo que requer um trabalho laboratorial cuidado, seguido de multiplicação de plantas em cultura protegida, de molde a produzir material pré-base capaz de permitir a instalação de viveiros para a obtenção de propágulos de elevada qualidade sanitária. Os viveiros podem ser ao ar livre ou em cultura protegida, mas as boas práticas agrícolas devem ser seguidas qualquer que seja o tipo de viveiro e de material vegetal utilizado.
